History
Santa Fe, the oldest state capital in the coutnry, is a city with a rich history. Aorund 1000-1300 A.D., it was home to the Anasazi, precursers of the Pueblo peoples, and in 1610 the Spaniards established the city as their colonial capital.
The official name of Santa Fe is “LA VILLA REAL DE SANTA FE DE SAN FRANCISCO DE ASSIS,” which means “the Royal City of the Holy Faith St. Francis of Assisi.” Santa Fe was officially incorporated in 1891, before New Mexico became a state in 1912.
The city’s cultural diversity, natural beauty, and abundant leisure activities attract visitors year round. Many fall in love with Santa Fe and choose to call the “City Different” home.
